Buttery Dinner Rolls in a Baking Dish

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Fairhaven Mill Organic All-Purpose White Flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the Fairhaven Mill organic all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
    • Pour the activated yeast mixture into the well, followed by melted butter and the egg.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into a round ball.
  6. Second Rise:
    • Place the shaped rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a small gap between each. Cover them and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake:
    • Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
  9. Brush with Butter:
    • While the rolls are still warm, brush the tops with additional melted butter for a soft and shiny finish. (Pro Tip: use honey butter for a sweet & savory taste!)
  10. Serve:
    • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the warm, fluffy goodness of these classic dinner rolls made with local organic flour from Fairhaven Mill!

Happy Baking!
