On Day 1 of the 12 Days of Baking, we share with you a recipe for a classic Christmas Sugar Cookie!
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cups Fairhaven Mill Organic All-Purpose White Flour
Directions
- In mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth, at least 3 minutes.
- Beat in extracts and egg.
- In separate bowl, combine baking powder and salt with flour and add a little at a time to the wet ingredients. Important Note: If the dough looks crumbly, keep mixing for 30 seconds to 1 minute longer. The dough should be pulling away from the side of the mixer.
- DO NOT CHILL DOUGH. Divide into workable batches, roll out onto floured surface, and cut with holiday-shaped cookie cutters. Cookies should be about 1/4 inch thick.
- Bake at 350° for 7-9 minutes, let cool on the cookie sheet until firm enough to transfer to cooling rack.
- Once cool, decorate with your favorite frosting.
- Enjoy!
Happy baking, may your holidays be as sweet as a freshly baked batch of sugar cookies! ❄️🎄
