12 Days of Baking: Christmas Sugar Cookies

On Day 1 of the 12 Days of Baking, we share with you a recipe for a classic Christmas Sugar Cookie!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth, at least 3 minutes.
  2. Beat in extracts and egg.
  3. In separate bowl, combine baking powder and salt with flour and add a little at a time to the wet ingredients. Important Note: If the dough looks crumbly, keep mixing for 30 seconds to 1 minute longer. The dough should be pulling away from the side of the mixer.
  4. DO NOT CHILL DOUGH. Divide into workable batches, roll out onto floured surface, and cut with holiday-shaped cookie cutters. Cookies should be about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Bake at 350° for 7-9 minutes, let cool on the cookie sheet until firm enough to transfer to cooling rack.
  6. Once cool, decorate with your favorite frosting.
  7. Enjoy!
