With the 4th of July just around the corner and many sunny days ahead, we want to share our recipe for a festive fusion of Red, White, and Blue! This recipe features our very own Fairhaven Mill Hard Red Wheat Berries combined with a tasty mix of strawberries, blueberries, red onion, and goat cheese & topped with a minty-orange dressing.  The Berry Blast Bowl is the perfect dish to enjoy on a warm summer day, whether you're hosting a BBQ, planning a picnic, or simply craving a light and refreshing meal!

Fairhaven Mill Organic Hard Red Wheat Berries | 2 cups rinsed and drained

Low Sodium Chicken Broth | 4 cups

Water | 4 cups 

Kosher Salt | 1 tsp


Fresh Orange Juice | 1/2 cup (from 2 oranges)

Extra Virgin Olive Oil | 1/3 cup

Orange Zest | 2 tbsp (from 1 orange)

Agave Nectar | 2 tbsp

Fresh Mint Leaves | 1/4 cup, finely chopped

Kosher Salt | 1 tsp

Freshly Ground Pepper | 1/2 tsp

Strawberries | 10, quartered

Blueberries | 1/2 cup

Red Onion | 1/3 cup

Crumbled Goat Cheese | 1/3 cup




  1. In a large saucepan, combine the wheat berries, chicken broth, water, and salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce the heat to a simmer, cover the pot & cook until tender - about 60 to 70 minutes.
  4. Drain the wheat berries and set aside to cool - about 15 minutes
  5. Transfer to a large salad bowl


    1. In a medium bowl, combine the orange juice, olive oil, orange zest, agave nectar, mint leaves, salt, & pepper and stir until smooth.
    2. Pour the dressing over the wheat berries.
    3. Add the strawberries, blueberries, red onion, & goat cheese.
    4. Toss until all ingredients are coated
