Buckwheat Groats

Buckwheat is the seed of a flowering plant related to rhubarb and has a thick outer hull that once removed yields a triangular-shaped buckwheat groat that is tan in color. Buckwheat groats can be ground into buckwheat grits, which are commonly used as a breakfast cereal. Buckwheat groats have a pleasant nutty and earthy flavor and are a good source of protein, dietary fibers, magnesium, copper, and manganese.
